ADO Den Haag, Jong AZ and TOP Oss are the new leaders of the Kitchen Champion Division. The team of coach Ruud Brood won the top match at FC Volendam with 1-3, partly due to a goal from Thomas Verheydt. Jong AZ won 1-2 against Helmond Sport in injury time, while TOP Oss recorded a handsome 2-1 victory over VVV-Venlo. NAC Breda suffered a painful loss of points at the same time, by giving up a 2-0 lead against Telstar. FC Emmen also disappointed with a 0-1 defeat against FC Eindhoven.

FC Volendam – ADO The Hague 1-3
The match between FC Volendam and ADO Den Haag had started well, or the opening goal for the home team was already in the net. After four minutes of play on the edge of the penalty area, Denso Kasius was given space to lash out and hit the short corner. Shortly afterwards, however, the game turned completely over. FC Volendam goalkeeper Filip Stankovic completely misjudged a long pass from Gregor Breinburg and then deprived Amar Catic of a scoring opportunity, sending him off the field with a red card. ADO quickly repaired the damage in excess: with nineteen minutes on the clock, Catic found Thomas Verheydt, who controlled his second goal of the season. Shortly before half-time, ADO took over the game. Boy Kemper was released completely with a corner kick by Sem Steijn and headed in.

With one man less, FC Volendam was close to the equalizer early in the second half. However, a bet by Mike Eerdhuijzen was taken off the line. ADO then went in search of a wider margin and was given opportunities through Verheydt and Vicente Besuijen. The 1-3 came after more than an hour of play, when the ball hit the spot after a foul by Eerdhuijzen on Breinburg. Steijn made no mistake and brought ADO into safe harbor, as Volendam didn’t come any closer in the remainder of the game.

TOP Oss – VVV-Venlo 2-1
VVV, the number seventeen of the Eredivisie last season, fell behind after just over an hour by a goal from Justin Mathieu. The TOP attacker aimed the ball from the edge of the penalty area into the bottom corner and broke open the game. The game went up and down in the attractive first half. Wassim Essanoussi of VVV provided the most dangerous moment of the first half with a powder against the bottom of the bar. Both teams missed opportunities to take the lead. Due to an own goal by Jan Lammers, VVV seemed to take a point with them in Oss, but TOP still took the game in injury time: substitute Stephen Buyl formed the end point of a good attack, took off his shirt and saw the whole game. reserve bench onto the field.

NAC Breda – Telstar 2-2
NAC Breda quickly put things in order in its own Rat Verlegh Stadium in the first half. Pjotr Kestens opened the score after nineteen minutes on the advice of Ralf Seuntjens. Seuntjens again acted as principal six minutes later, when he brought Odysseus Velanas into position on his way to the 2-0. Before halftime, Thom Haye was also very close to a goal, but his free kick bounced off the bottom of the bar. After the break, Telstar showed himself a little more, via Anwar Bensabouh and substitute Rashaan Fernandes. Gyliano van Velzen brought Telstar back into the game fifteen minutes before the end. The substitute eventually took on a heroic role, because he also scored the equalizer three minutes before the end.

Helmond Sport – Young AZ 1-2
Helmond Sport took the initiative in the first half and that resulted in some good opportunities. The home team hit the crossbar twice, via Boyd Reith and Arno Van Keilegom respectively. Just after the break, Jellert van Landschoot opened the score on behalf of Helmond, by first cutting in the penalty area and then finding the far corner with the right: 1-0. Young AZ came back shortly afterwards via a header by Fedde de Jong from a pass by Maxim Dekker: 1-1. Helmond could have decided the game when Dylan Seys went to the grass, but Jelle Goselink missed the penalty that followed. Zico Buurmeester gave Jong AZ the victory in injury time.

Roda JC Kerkrade – Excelsior 1-2
Excelsior opened the scoring in an attractive opening phase. In the seventh minute, after both teams had already had a chance to strike, Thijs Dallinga scored through the inside of the post from a cross by Reuven Niemeijer. Roda JC’s answer soon followed: a swipe from Patrick Pflücke landed on the crossbar. Halfway through the first half, however, Excelsior doubled the margin. After a failed corner, the visitors brought the ball in again and Redouan El Yaakoubi promptly headed in on the edge of the penalty area. Seven minutes after time, Niemeijer missed a serious chance at 0-3. Seven minutes before the end of the second half, just after Dylan Vente and Mart Remans missed chances, Roda JC found the connection: debutant Xian Emmers took care of the 1-2, but that was it.

FC Emmen – FC Eindhoven 0-1
The initial phase of the duel at the Oude Meerdijk was extremely entertaining. There were plenty of opportunities to note on both sides: Thomas Dahlhaus was given a chance on behalf of FC Eindhoven, while Jeredy Hilterman showed himself several times for FC Emmen in the enemy penalty area. The remainder of the first half, however, was less spectacular and the next big opportunity was not to be noted until shortly after the break, when a shot by Joey Sleegers went over. A phase followed with opportunities back and forth: for Mitch Apau and Peter van Ooijen on behalf of FC Emmen, for Dave de Meij and Mawouna Amevor on behalf of FC Eindhoven. In the end, Dahlhaus gave FC Eindhoven the victory in the final phase: the attacker saw his shot through an opponent behind goalkeeper Michael Brouwer. Due to a red card for Jeff Hardeveld, FC Emmen finally ended the game with ten men.

MVV Maastricht – De Graafschap 1-3
The first big chance of the game in Maastricht was for Allan Delferrière on behalf of MVV, but it was the visitors who took the lead after thirteen minutes of play. Elmo Lieftink was able to strike out on the edge of the penalty area and goalkeeper Thijmen Nijhuis was unable to handle the ball well, giving Joey Konings the space to convert the rebound into a goal. Sven Blummel fired the equalizer on the scoreboard with a nice volley ten minutes later, which didn’t stay there too long. Danny Verbeek slalomed past the defense of MVV and found Giovanni Korte, who quickly gave De Graafschap the lead again.

De Graafschap left behind via Verbeek, Jonathan Opoku, Danzell Gravenberch and Roland Baas to quickly reach a safe margin in the second half. In the end, MVV was allowed to hope for a point fifteen minutes before the end, until Delferrière floored Opoku in the penalty area and was sent off with a red card for that. Opoku shot the 1-3 against the ropes from eleven meters. Julian Lelieveld could have taken care of the final chord on behalf of the visitors, but the wing defender shot over in a promising position.

Almere City – Young FC Utrecht 1-1
Before the kick-off, the death of Jergé Hoefdraad was impressively commemorated in the Yanmar Stadium. Almere City took the lead early in the game. Lance Duijvestijn passed the ball to Ilias Alhaft, who convincingly shot the ball against the net. Duijvestijn then missed a triple chance to double the margin before half-time, while Mohamed Mallahi delivered a dangerous shot on behalf of Jong FC Utrecht. Mellahi also provided the first chance of the second half, after which Almere City emphatically looked for the 2-0. Maarten Pouwels and Jonas Arweiler, however, failed to expand the margin and the home team was given the lid on the nose in the final phase. Mees Rijks gave Jong Utrecht another point in Almere.
