Dirk Kuyt is going to start a new job as an analyst. The former Feyenoord player, who was hired by Ziggo Sport in February, switches to RTL, where he joins the programming around the Champions League. RTL previously managed to bring in two other big names with Ron Vlaar and Wesley Sneijder. Kuyt joins Humberto Tan, who has been appointed by the channel as the new presenter of the Champions League.

For Kuyt it is not his first job as an analyst. At the beginning of this year, he was appointed by Ziggo Sport as an analyst after he did a number of trial runs at the pay channel. The former attacker made his appearance during matches in the Premier League. He also joined the Rondo presented by Jack van Gelder. Kuyt’s contract with Ziggo Sport expired this summer, leaving him free to make the switch to RTL. The channel has confirmed the news to the General Newspaper.

In December, RTL managed to acquire the rights to the Champions League. From August 2021 to 2024, the matches in the billions ball will be broadcast by RTL7. Talpa, which previously broadcast the Champions League with Veronica and SBS6, now has to make do with the Europa League and Conference League. Before the Champions League went to Talpa in 2014, the rights were in the hands of the NOS.

Ziggo Sport announced at the end of July that it had acquired the broadcasting rights for the competition from France. In recent years, matches from the Ligue 1 could not be followed live on Dutch TV. Ziggo Sport previously extended the contract with the Italian Serie A. Next season, the competitions and national cup tournaments of France, Italy and Spain can therefore be followed on the channel, which also has the rights to the Champions League and the qualifying international matches for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
