The line-up of Feyenoord for the reunion with FC Luzern in the Conference League is known. Arne Slot opts for the exact same starting eleven as in the first game with the Swiss. At Lucerne, former Feyenoord player Jordy Wehrmann can count on a basic place. The game in De Kuip starts at 8 p.m. and is led by Italian Marco Guida, who has never whistled a match for the Rotterdam team.
Once again Slot has decided to pass Leroy Fer in favor of Gernot Trauner, who forms the defense with Marcus Pedersen, Marcos Senesi and Tyrell Malacia. Fer has also not been given a place in midfield, because the middle line is formed, just like in the diptych with FC Drita, by Jens Toornstra, Orkun Kökçü and Guus Til. Slot also opts for the same attack against the Swiss cup winner as in the return of the second preliminary round of the Conference League. Bryan Linssen will fill the striker position and he will be flanked by Luis Sinisterra and Alireza Jahanbakhsh.
Feyenoord was too strong for FC Luzern a week ago with 0-3. Guus Til opened the score for the Rotterdam team in the ninth minute and half an hour later he was again accurate. In the final phase, Luis Sinisterra made it 0-3 after a blunder by goalkeeper Vaso Vasic. Til has so far accounted for five of Feyenoord’s six goals this season. A round earlier, he made a hat-trick against Kosovar FC Drita (3-2)
If Feyenoord finally survives the diptych with the Swiss tonight, then a preliminary round must be survived later this month to reach the main tournament of the Conference League. In the eventual final preliminary round, Feyenoord will compete against the winner of the diptych between Sweden’s IF Elfsborg and Velez Mostar from Bosnia and Herzegovina. The first match between those teams ended in Sweden in 1-1.
At FC Luzern, all eyes were on Wehrmann, who was definitively taken over from Feyenoord earlier this summer. However, the 22-year-old midfielder has been struggling with an injury in recent weeks and partly because of this, he will start in the first game on the reserve bench with the number five of the past Super League season. On Thursday evening, Wehrmann will be in the base in midfield.
