Steven Berghuis, in consultation with Ajax and his management, has filed a report after many serious threats to his family and himself after his spicy transfer from Feyenoord to Ajax. Berghuis states that he has received dozens of shocking threats from people who strongly blame him for his transfer to Ajax. Some of the threats specifically refer to December 19. “My family and I have experienced at least some of these messages as very threatening and therefore consider it necessary to report the threat,” Berghuis wrote to the digital investigation agency. Also the banner with the name of Berghuis under the names of the shot dead Ajax supporters Polletje and Peter R. de Vries, the image of the graffiti in Rotterdam placed by the account ‘Voetbal Ultras’, on which Berghuis with a big nose, in a Jewish prisoner’s suit with the Star of David and the text ‘Jews always run away’, were handed over to the police by Berghuis.

General manager Edwin van der Sar says that Ajax also took strong emotions into account, but that a limit has been crossed. “There were reactions that really go too far.” Police have opened an investigation.
