AZ has definitively received Aslak Witry, the club reports via the official channels on Monday evening. The Norwegian right back comes over from Djurgardens IF and is seen as a replacement for Jonas Svensson, who left the Alkmaarders on a free transfer for an adventure at Adana Demirspor. Witry signs a five-year contract in Alkmaar. The amount of the transfer fee is not yet known.

Witry will compete at AZ with Yukinari Sugawara, who has so far been used as a replacement for Svensson. Witry is the third Norwegian to join the team of trainer Pascal Jansen, next to Fredrik Midtsjø and Hakon Evjen. In the current season, the right back stands out mainly because of his scoring ability: he has already scored five times in the last fourteen games. The Norwegian Eliteserien had already started in April, so the acquisition will report fit to the group.

Witry, who went through the youth academy of Rosenberg BK and made his debut in professional football at Ranheim, is very enthusiastic about his departure to Alkmaar. “AZ is very well known in Scandinavia. I did not hesitate for a moment to choose AZ. I am therefore proud to be part of the club from today. This is a perfect step for my development,” said the right back. the website of the North Hollanders.

Football affairs director Max Huiberts is also very positive about the brand new acquisition and sees Witry’s scoring ability in particular as a big ‘plus’. “We wanted to strengthen ourselves with a right back. With the arrival of Aslak, all positions in the defense are again qualitatively doubled. He competes with our other backs. Aslak is a player who fits our way of playing. Due to his defensive qualities, he is also strong on the ball and he brings attacking impulses with him. He has proven to have the ability to score, which is an extra weapon – certainly as a fullback,” said Huiberts.
