After the match between Feyenoord and Atlético Madrid, there was a disturbance on the field. Trainer Diego Simeone expressed his dissatisfaction to referee Dennis Higler and then seemed to push colleague Arne Slot away when the Feyenoord trainer wanted to shake hands. Then Jan Oblak, the goalkeeper of Atlético, talked to Slot.

Analyst Kenneth Perez of ESPN calls Simeone a ‘crazy’. “What’s Arne Slot got to do with that riot? As if Arne Slot were going to say something nasty to him. What’s the matter with you to shove another trainer in the back? We know Simeone is crazy on the sidelines, ad nauseam. The is a very successful trainer, but come on man. Act normal.”

Slot calls Simeone’s reaction ‘slightly exaggerated’. “But I also said in the dressing room: ‘If there’s one thing we can learn from Atletico, it’s that they don’t want to lose under any circumstances, even if it’s a practice match. They can get so extremely angry when it’s in their perception is offside in the last minute of the game. I also thought we went along very well, so that’s excellent.”

Ultimately, the Feyenoord trainer does not seem upset about the argument with his colleague. “I wanted to shake his hand, but he wouldn’t, so I had to laugh about that. If nobody had been there I would probably have been in bigger trouble. I’m not much of a fighter. I wouldn’t like him want to encounter one-on-one,” Slot adds with a laugh.
