AZ hopes to strengthen itself soon with a right back. The club is in advanced negotiations with Sweden’s Djurgårdens IF over Aslak Witry, reports express Sunday. Sporting director Bo Andersson confirms that good talks are being held about Witry, who must succeed the transfer-free Jonas Svensson in Alkmaar.
Witry, 25, has been playing for Djurgårdens since January 2019. He became champion of Sweden with his team in his first season. According to express the fullback is one of Djurgårdens’ best players. He has already scored five times in thirteen appearances this season and partly because of this, the club is in second place, with as many points as leader Malmö FF. Sunday was lost 1-4 to number three AIK and after that match director Andersson is asked about the future of Witry.
“I can confirm that we are in contact with that club about Aslak. We have spoken with several clubs in the past week, but we do not want to sell him,” the policymaker makes clear. “We have come a long way with AZ, I can confirm that, but a transfer is not yet certain.
