The lineups of Ajax and PSV for the Johan Cruijff Scale are known. Jurriën Timber gets a basic place in the Amsterdam team in favor of the slightly injured Perr Schuurs, while Olivier Boscagli returns from a suspension with the Eindhoven team. The match starts at 8 p.m. in the Johan Cruijff ArenA and is led by Björn Kuipers, who is stepping down as referee.

Ajax starts the Super Cup match with the debuting Remko Pasveer in the goal. Maarten Stekelenburg is slightly battered, but he is sitting on the bench. Schuurs is also absent due to an injury and Erik ten Hag chooses Timber and Lisandro Martínez as the central duo. Noussair Mazraoui and Nicolás Tagliafico occupy the back positions. Devyne Rensch has recovered from a minor injury and is sitting on the bench.

Although Edson Álvarez is ready to play again after his Gold Cup adventure, Ten Hag opts for Blind in midfield. The veteran forms the controlling block with Ryan Gravenberch, while Davy Klaassen plays on ten. Newcomer Steven Berghuis occupies the right winger position on his official debut, also because Antony is in Tokyo as part of the Olympic Games, where he won gold with Brazil on Sunday. Sébastien Haller is in the striker, while Dusan Tadic can be found on the left wing.

Roger Schmidt had to adjust and measure less on the side of PSV. The people of Eindhoven have an almost fit selection. Compared to the match against FC Midtjylland (3-0 win), Boscagli is in the team instead of Armando Obispo. Nothing else changes, as a result of which goalkeeper Joël Drommel is again preferred over Yvon Mvogo. Philipp Mwene and Philipp Max play right and left back, while André Ramalho plays with Boscagli in the center back. Jordan Teze therefore has to do it again with a reserve spot.

In midfield, Schmidt remains confident in the controlling bloc made up of Ibrahim Sangaré and Marco van Ginkel, while Mario Götze is the attacking midfielder. As a result, acquisition Davy Pröpper will probably have to do it again with a substitute. PSV also remains unchanged in the front with Noni Madueke, Eran Zahavi and Cody Gakpo.

Ajax is today the first club to win six prizes in a row in the Netherlands, without the intervention of another club. The team from Amsterdam won the TOTO KNVB Cup, the Eredivisie and the Johan Cruijff Scale in 2019. A year later, no prizes were distributed due to corona and last season Ajax took the double again. This would make the Johan Cruijff Scale the sixth consecutive prize, with which Ajax improves the record of PSV (three times the cup plus two times champion) between 1988 and 1990.
