Vitesse has announced its line-up for the first leg against Dundalk in the first leg of the third preliminary round of the Conference League. Due to an injury to Eli Dasa and a special suspension of acquisition Romaric Yapi, trainer Thomas Letsch has to improvise on the right back position. Million Manhoef, by nature a left back, will start on the right in the defense on Thursday evening in GelreDome. The match starts at 7 p.m. in the GelreDome.

Dasa is currently on his way back from injury but is unable to play against Dundalk yet. Yapi was taken over from Brighton & Hove Albion earlier this summer as his stand-in, but Letsch cannot now call on the 21-year-old right-back due to a special suspension. He was shown a red card in February 2019 in the last European match he played, with Paris Saint-Germain Under-19 in the Youth League against Hertha BSC Under-19. Thus Manhoef exchanges the left for the right wing for the duel with Dundalk.

Manhoef is preferred by Letsch to Dominik Oroz. “Manhoef has had a good preparation and is more aggressive. I’m looking forward to seeing him play.” the Gelderlander from the mouth of Letsch during the closing press conference. Vitesse will meet the current number seven of the Irish league in its first official game of the 2021/22 season. Dundalk previously dealt with Newtown from Wales and Levadia Tallinn from Estonia.

Oussama Tannane and Riechedly Bazoer, who are explicitly linked to a departure, are still ‘normal’ at Vitesse for the time being. Bazoer forms the central duo with Danilho Doekhi and Tomas Hájek, partly due to the absence of Jacob Rasmussen. Markus Schubert, who came over from Schalke 04, takes the place of Remko Pasveer under the crossbar, while acquisitions Yann Ghobo and Nikolai Baden Frederiksen also appear immediately at the kick-off.

Set-up Vitesse: Schubert; Manhoef, Dukhi, Bazoer, Hajek, Wittek; Bero, Ghobo, Tronstad; Frederiksen, Openda.
