Thomas Verheydt continues his career at ADO Den Haag, the club from the Hofstad announces through the official channels. The 29-year-old striker signs a contract until mid-2024 and comes transfer-free from Almere City, where his contract expired earlier this summer. Verheydt thus returns to his great love, where he already played in the youth academy between 2004 and 2012.

Verheydt’s name had been associated with a return to ADO for some time, but an agreement was not forthcoming. Broadcasting West reported that the situation at ADO makes it ‘more complex’ to bring in players, so it took some time before the final folds could be ironed out. Verheydt has never made it a secret that he would love to return to ADO.

“Yes, it would be a dream to play for ADO Den Haag someday. That would be really nice. But you never know how things will turn out,” said Verheydt in 2017, for example in an interview with football zone. The striker played for Wilhelmus and Feyenoord, before he entered the youth academy of ADO in 2004. He played there for eight years, before he seemed to disappear from professional football. Via Jodan Boys, IJsselmeervogels and Scheveningen, he returned to professional football at MVV Maastricht in 2015.

After MVV, Verheydt wore the shirt of Crawley Town and Go Ahead Eagles, before he ended up at Almere City in the summer of 2019. In the service of the club from Flevoland, he has scored 30 goals and 9 assists in 54 official games in the past two years. When his departure from Almere City was announced, Verheydt flirted with a new foreign adventure. However, he has now chosen to work at ADO.
