Robin Polley exchanges ADO Den Haag for Heracles Almelo. Both parties have been negotiating for a while about the compensation for the contract of the 22-year-old wing defender in the Hofstad, which still runs until mid-2022, but eventually managed to find an agreement. Polley signs a three-year contract in Almelo, with an option for another season.

ADO removed Polley – the son of former Sparta Rotterdam, FC Twente, sc Heerenveen and Excelsior player Prince Polley – from Feyenoord’s youth academy in the summer of 2017, where he had played for a year. In his second season with the club from The Hague, he made his debut in the main squad in the 0-6 won cup match against OJC Rosmalen, for whom he eventually played four times.

Polley spent the past year and a half on a rental basis at FC Dordrecht, for whom he played a total of 24 matches in the Kitchen Champion Division. In the service of FC Dordrecht, Polley apparently put himself in the spotlight at Heracles. However, the youth international from Ghana still had a permanent contract with ADO and the club relegated to the Kitchen Champion Division did not want to let him go without a fight. In the end, both parties reached an agreement, whereby Polley signs a multi-year contract with Heracles.

Robin Polley is already at the age of 21 following in the footsteps of Seedorf, Van der Sar and Kuyt

“When I came here I had a good conversation with Frank (Wormuth, red) and Tim (Gilissen, red). I have a plan ready that I feel good about. I like the way of working and the way of playing me. In addition, I have a great ambition for myself to eventually play Eredivisie matches structurally here,” Polley says on the Heracles website. Technical director Tim Gilissen is pleased with the signing of the fullback.

“Robin suits our way of playing and our vision. We got him with an eye on the future. We think he has interesting conditions to grow with us and take the next step in his career,” said Gillissen. After Sven Sonnenberg (acquired from Hansa Rostock), Bilal Basacikoglu (acquired from Gaziantep), Robin Jalving (FC Emmen), Alessandro Damen (acquired from Excelsior), Nikolai Laursen (acquired from FC Emmen) and Ruben Roosken (acquired from TOP Oss) Polley is the seventh summer reinforcement for Heracles. Opposite this is the departure of Robin Pröpper (to FC Twente), Teun Bijleveld, Michael Brouwer, Jeff Hardeveld (all to FC Emmen), Daniel Mesenhöler (new club not yet known) and Tim Breukers (retired).
