AS Monaco filed a complaint with UEFA on Tuesday evening during the half-time meeting with Sparta Prague. Racist songs are said to have been sung from the Czech stands to Aurélien Tchouaméni. The midfielder opened the score against the Czechs a few minutes before half-time, after which the supporters of the home team allegedly treated him racially. The message is confirmed by Canal+, which broadcasts the match.

The Monegasques will visit Sparta Prague in the third qualifying round of the Champions League, which will have to deal with a goal from Tchouaméni in the 38th minute. Aleksandr Golovin delivered a corner kick from the right to the head at Tchouaméni, who came in front of his man and convincingly nodded in the 0-1. When cheering, loud cheers can be heard on the images from presumably Sparta Prague supporters, although it is not entirely certain whether the goalscorer was also treated racially at that time.

At halftime, the French channel comes out with the news that Tchouaméni is ‘very upset’ by the alleged racist statements from the stands. The Monaco players have formally filed a complaint with the refereeing corps over the events. The 22 players have now resumed the game and it is not yet clear what the consequences will be.
