Jergé Hoefdraad died as a result of his injuries after the shooting in Amsterdam-Zuidoost on Sunday morning. The 35-year-old former professional football player was hit in the head and was rushed to hospital. He died there on Monday, police confirmed. According to The Telegraph is now a prime suspect.

In the night from Saturday to Sunday, Hoefdraad was present at a party in a business building on Stekkenbergweg, where he was shot in the head around 06:00. On images circulating on social media, two explosions can be heard, after which great panic broke out. Nothing is officially known about what exactly happened, but the police are going according to The Telegraph from that Hoefdraad wanted to appease a quarrel. Hoof wire would have undergone a ‘very complicated operation’ in the hospital, but died on Monday.

Hoefdraad played in the youth of Ajax between 1996 and 2004. He then moved to RKC Waalwijk and made his debut for that club in 2007. On Sunday, the police said they were looking for witnesses or people who may even have images of the violence or the situation around the business premises. “There were a lot of people there at the time, so there may be several who have seen or even filmed something. So we are looking for those images,” a spokesperson reported.
