Ajax invited Filip Bundgaard in April for a trial period in Amsterdam. Despite the fact that his club Randers FC gave permission for the internship, the now seventeen-year-old attacking midfielder is still waiting for the moment that he can actually travel to the Netherlands. Bundgaard thinks that the corona measures are the cause of the delay in his trial period at Ajax.

“I haven’t left yet. I have no control over it, so I don’t know much about it at the moment. It probably has to do with the corona measures, but I hope the invitation still stands,” Bundgaard said. Randers Amtsavis. “It is of course special when you are suddenly asked to join a club like Ajax. But it’s about being strong and focusing on the things I can do here in Randers.”

“I don’t think too much about the future. I am working hard to get minutes in the Superligaen, even though it is very cool that a large club is showing interest,” says the youth international from Denmark, who still has a contract with Randers until mid-2024. Bundgaard already has twelve official games in the main squad of Randers to his name and in November last year became the youngest goalscorer in Randers club history with his goal in the cup against Aarhus. He will join Randers’ A-selection this summer.

“Filip handles it very well. Maybe he was a bit confused at first, because a lot of people asked about it. But that’s not weird. He has found his place again and is concentrating on his own development,” said Rasmus Bertelsen, assistant coach at the number six of the past Superligaen season and the cup winner of Denmark. “It is wonderful for young players to be able to see how things work at a club like Ajax. You experience completely different things during such a trial period.”
