Tottenham Hotspur is emphatically interested in Cristian Romero, as we know Sports Italia-journalist Gianluigi Longari and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. Longari reports that Atalanta has rejected an English offer totaling 45 million euros. According to Romano, the number three of the last Serie A season wants an amount of 55 million euros for the 23-year-old center defender.

Atalanta and Tottenham were already successfully at the table last week, because Pierluigi Gollini will very soon exchange Bergamo for London. The 26-year-old goalkeeper will be rented until mid-2022, after which the Spurs can hire him for fifteen million euros. The English also have the option to extend the exchange agreement for an extra year. If Gollini plays at least twenty games for Tottenham, the buy option becomes mandatory. However, Romero has also been talked about by Atalanta and Tottenham.

La Dea could already earn a lot from Romero without actually being under contract in Bergamo. The five-time Argentine international is rented from Juventus until the summer of 2022 and Atalanta has an option to buy worth sixteen million euros, an amount that can be paid over three seasons. Atalanta may have to exercise that option to buy now, as Romero has left an excellent impression in the 42 games he played for the club last season.

Tottenham is particularly fond of Romero, who previously also played for Belgrano and Genoa. However, there is a significant difference between supply and demand in the negotiations between the Spurs and Atalanta. Tottenham has unsuccessfully made an opening offer of a total of 45 million euros – a fixed transfer fee of 35 million euros, which can increase by 10 million euros through bonuses – in Italy. Atalanta wants 55 million euros for Romero or hopes that Davinson Sánchez can be involved in an agreement. The ex-Ajacied is not yet playing a role for Tottenham in the hunt for Romero.
