Eljero Elia does not seem to play a significant role at FC Utrecht next season. The left wing attacker was already missing from the match selection of the Domstedelingen in the practice matches in preparation for next season, and on Tuesday evening, trainer René Hake seems to have made the final verdict: Elia will not go on a training camp to Zeeland.

FC Utrecht has traveled to Zeeland for the training camp in the run-up to the start of the competition. However, 34-year-old Elia was not part of Hake’s 29-man squad. The coach made it clear to the attacker in a personal conversation on Tuesday that he is not included in the plans for next season, reports said. Football International. Reportedly, the elector plans to play with Othmane Boussaid or Bart Ramselaar.

Hake would like to line up wingers who move in, so that there is more room for the upcoming left-back, Django Warmerdam. Incidentally, the reporting does not come out of the blue, because Elia will not be in the match selection during the practice matches that have been played so far. At an earlier stage, Frank Schouten, Elia’s agent, already informed the weekly that the attacker is determined to fight back in the first team.

Via Twitter, Elia herself reacted to his ‘banishment’ in the training campaign. “The lie is quick, but the truth has stamina,” was Elijah’s cryptic message. It is not known to whom exactly he addressed those words. “I made different choices. He was not injured. He’s just fit”, Hake admitted after the 2-7 practice win over KV Mechelen The Telegraph. “Why isn’t he playing? Because we make different choices. We have a lot of guys running in that position and I chose these guys,” the trainer told a little later Football International.
