Agent Hasan Cetinkaya is not happy about the spread of rumors surrounding Martin Braithwaite. The Barcelona striker was, according to the Catalan Sport close to a transfer to Wolverhampton Wanderers. However, Cetinkaya says in Danish BT that there is ‘nothing at all true’ of that reporting.
The Spanish sports newspaper reported on Monday that Jorge Mendes, including the agent of Cristiano Ronaldo, is doing everything he can to accommodate Braithwaite at the Wolves. Barcelona would like to sell the Danish attacker as soon as possible for fifteen million euros, in order to create room in the salary system again. A number of Premier League clubs in particular are willing to put the desired asking price on the table for Braithwaite. “It’s all nonsense, all stories are nonsense,” Cetinkaya responds to the messages from Spain.
Braithwaite’s advocate finds both the story from the Spanish corridors strange and the possible role of Mendes in the so-called deal. “Mendes has nothing to do with Braithwaite. Mendes has no players at all at Barcelona; he only has players at Wolverhampton. He can focus on his players at Wolves, then I take care of my players at Barcelona,” Cetinkaya grumbles in the Danish daily.
Moreover, Braithwaite would not be concerned with a departure from Barcelona, his agent says. “He plays for the biggest club in the world, works with one of the best coaches in the world. From day one, he has exceeded all expectations in terms of both playing time and contributions. He is happy there and he will continue at Barcelona”, concludes the irritated Cetinkaya.
