Ivan Gazidis has been diagnosed with throat cancer by the doctors, AC Milan announced on Tuesday afternoon. The team of doctors has recently tested the general manager of the Italian superpower extensively and on that basis it is expected that he will make a full recovery. Gazidis, who will be treated in special clinics, will continue to work for the time being, it sounds like.

“The diagnosis of cancer is of course never convenient,” Gazidis said in a statement on Tuesday. “But luckily this is a cancer that is curable and the diagnosis is also positive. The medical team is really world-class and I have the support of loved ones and everyone at AC Milan. Based on the advice I get I am confident in a successful treatment of the cancer, while also anticipating a full recovery,” the Milan driver continues to look optimistically to the future.

“My diagnosis shows once again how important it is to have regular medical checkups, even if you don’t have any symptoms. I would like to urge everyone to always put health first, even if it is daily life and work take up a lot of time. It is very important to undergo medical tests on a regular basis,” said Gazidis, who once again emphasizes the close bond at Milan. “We have a strong team, on and off the field. I am confident that we will take steps as a club in the coming weeks. I hope to see you soon and as always: Forza Milan.”

AC Milan emphasized in Tuesday’s statement that everyone at the club wishes Gazidis a speedy recovery: “We are all behind you.” The general manager has been associated with the Milan superpower since September 2018. Between 2008 and 2018, he held the same position at Arsenal.
