It increasingly looks like Robert Lewandowski is going for a new adventure in the twilight of his career. The Bayern Munich striker has often indicated that he would like to take another step and now has that opportunity at Chelsea, reports The Sun. The English superpower has given up hope for Erling Haaland and would like to strike at Bayern for fifty million euros, it sounds like. Lewandowski has previously been linked with a move to Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

Chelsea want to strengthen the striker position next summer and Haaland is the main candidate for this. The Blues hoped to seduce Borussia Dortmund by offering Tammy Abraham and/or Callum Hudson-Odoi in exchange for the Norwegian attacker, but Dortmund does not want to cooperate, knew sky to report earlier. Dortmund raised a maximum of 95 million euros with the sale of Jadon Sancho to Manchester United and has no need to sell. Chelsea’s first offer for Haaland was therefore rigorously brushed aside.

The rejected offer has forced Chelsea to shift interest to Lewandowski. Those negotiations will not go smoothly, however, as Bayern have indicated that they would like to extend the goal machine. The Pool’s contract expires in southern Germany in mid-2023. Lewandowski himself, on the other hand, is not unsympathetic to a departure and has often indicated that he would like to make another attempt in the Premier League. Manchester City already signed up for the attack leader, but according to English sources, they have recently dropped out.

Bayern does not immediately throw the ass against the crib when it comes to a transfer from Lewandowski, but is also not eager for a departure of the striker without a direct successor. It would also be a bad signal, it sounds like. However, Chelsea have the financial means to test the German club’s determination and are preparing a €50 million offer. Given that Lewandowski turns 33 in August, this may be Bayern’s last chance to get a significant amount of cash left over from the attacker.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel now considers Lewandowski his best option, writes The Sun. It wouldn’t be the first time Chelsea have paid a fortune for a Bundesliga player. Last year Kai Havertz was acquired for 81 million euros from Bayer Leverkusen and Timo Werner for 55 million euros from RB Leipzig. In 2019, Roman Abramovich raised Christian Pulisic for 67 million euros from Borussia Dortmund. Lewandowski is therefore in sixth place in the list of most expensive Chelsea purchases ever.
