Bayern Munich hopes to take advantage of Barcelona’s financial troubles, reports RAC1 Sunday. The Bundesliga superpower realizes that Barcelona has three right-backs with Sergiño Dest, Sergi Roberto and Emerson Royal and has inquired about the possibility of taking over one of them. Bayern’s first choice would be Dest.

Bayern hoped to sign Dest last year. The club even reached a personal agreement with the American international, but in the end Barcelona came out on top. Under Ronald Koeman, Dest played in thirty league games last season. After the season, Bayern, Arsenal and Juventus would have cautiously reported to his entourage, but Dest said he did not aspire to leave. He is determined to develop further under Koeman and has even ended his holiday early so that he can start preparing fit.

Dest left Ajax for Barcelona at the beginning of October 2020 for at least 21.2 and a maximum of 26.2 million euros. His transfer value is according to Transfermarkt since then increased to 30 million euros. Bayern will therefore have to dig deeper into their pockets than would have been the case a year ago. The champion of Germany is also not unsympathetic to the arrival of Sergi Roberto and Emerson Royal. Both players are said to be impressed by Bayern’s technical staff and do not close the door for a switch in advance.

Emerson was signed to Barcelona in early June and came over from Real Betis. He was acquired in 2019 from Atlético Mineiro, which received more than twelve million euros for the transfer. Half of the transfer fee was paid for by Barcelona at the time, with Betis depositing the other six million euros. Barcelona negotiated the option to pick up Emerson from Betis in 2021 and took advantage of it last month.
