Stade Rennes has reported to AZ for Teun Koopmeiners, reports Foot Mercato. The number six of last season in the Ligue 1 has made an opening bid of unknown height for the 23-year-old captain of the Alkmaarders. Rennes is facing competition from Atalanta, which is still hoping for Koopmeiners to arrive.

AZ confirmed at the end of June that it was negotiating with Atalanta about Koopmeiners. “That does not mean that we are already out,” emphasized technical director Max Huiberts in conversation with Football International. Various Italian media previously reported that Atalanta has offered a fixed transfer fee of fifteen million euros for the 23-year-old midfielder. Bonuses can be added on top of that. Huiberts did not want to comment on amounts.

Koopmeiners was also linked to AS Roma, but that interest never became concrete. The midfielder can now add Stade Rennes to his options. The French sub-topper takes into account the departure of top talent Eduardo Camavinga, who is in the interest of Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain. Earlier, Rennes said goodbye to Steven Nzonzi, who was hired from AS Roma last season.

The transfer of Koopmeiners still seems far from the concluding phase. That does not apply to Calvin Stengs and Myron Boadu, who will almost certainly leave AZ. It General Newspaper was able to report on Wednesday evening that the Alkmaarders agree with OGC Nice about Stengs, while L’Equipe An agreement is expected between AZ and AS Monaco about Boadu at the end of this week. Both attackers will bring in around fifteen million euros.
