Manchester United appear to be renting out Tahith Chong again. The attacker was loaned out to both Werder Bremen and Club Brugge last season and is now on his way to Birmingham City, writes The Telegraph Thursday. A rental deal between Manchester United and the number eighteen of last season of the Championship is imminent, according to the newspaper.

Chong started last season at Werder Bremen. His rental period was cut short at the end of January. Werder Bremen reported through the club channels that Chong himself had asked for an early departure, but BILD wrote that Manchester United had expressed that wish. Chong had been out of action in the Bundesliga for several weeks. He made the switch to Club Brugge, for which he played ten league matches.

Chong has a contract with Manchester United until the summer of 2022, with an option for an extra year. The youth international of the Dutch played five league matches for Manchester United, spread over the 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons. Including appearances in domestic and European cup tournaments, he came to sixteen official duels.

When he signed his last contract at Old Trafford in March 2020, coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer expressed his satisfaction with the development of Feyenoord’s 21-year-old youth product. “Tahith works very hard every day and keeps getting better. He has enormous potential. With his age, qualities and work ethic, a bright future awaits him at Manchester United.”
