Paul Pogba and Benjamin Pavard allegedly had a heated argument after a comment from Raphaël Varane, reports Le Parisien. The Bayern Munich right-back is said to be disappointed with Pogba’s defensive effort at the European Championship against Switzerland (3-3). It was Varane who made the disappointment known to the Manchester United midfielder, after which a heated discussion ensued.

The newspaper reports that after the elimination against Switzerland, Pavard made a critical statement about the defensive performance of his teammate, who, by the way, did a nice job of making the 3-1. “Benj (Pavard, ed.) thinks you have not defended enough,” Varane is said to have told Pogba. That comment went down the wrong way with the latter, who immediately sought a confrontation with Pavard.

Although the players involved did not physically attack each other, it seems that the two ruffs had a hard, verbal clash. Over and over again, Pogba and Pavard would have insulted each other. According to reports, Pogba has apologized to Varane, who is said to have passed Pavard’s comments on to the midfielder in confidence.

It is not the first time since the elimination that disagreements have arisen within the French player group. Last week reported L’Equipe that the relationship between Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann has reached a freezing point. The former is said to be jealous of his teammate, who according to Mbappe receives preferential treatment from the team and national coach Didier Deschamps. Furthermore, Griezmann and Ousmane Dembélé were discredited because of possible racist behavior and Adrien Rabiot’s mother got into a fight with Pogba’s family and Mbappé’s parents.
