Johan Derksen currently sees Giovanni van Bronckhorst as the most ideal candidate to succeed Frank de Boer as national coach of the Dutch national team, he told the European Championship show on Sunday morning. Football International. Derksen thinks it is time to skip the old generation of Dutch trainers in the application procedure and look at the slightly younger trainers. He also mentions Philip Cocu and Van Bronckhorst, the latter of which, as far as Derksen is concerned, has the best papers for the vacant trainer position.

“Van Bronckhorst feels called upon,” he said in the publicity, Derksen begins. “I think Van Bronckhorst is an impeccable man. A decent boy, he can express himself nicely and is never involved in riots. Moreover, he has a very good football background. I don’t think he is the ultimate boss, but maybe we should put that on the line “That generation should take over at some point. I still don’t see a trainer in Cocu. But Cocu is also from that generation. Those guys have a wealth of experience. And if things go wrong with Van Bronckhorst, then we don’t have any better in this country. But don’t keep switching to that old gentleman thing.”

Derksen believes it is time to look beyond the renowned Dutch trainers and the KNVB should give the next generation a chance. “If I analyze it properly, I think: should we bring back Dick Advocaat every time there is a problem with the Dutch national team? Or Van Gaal? Is Guus Hiddink still fit enough? These are guys who are well in their seventies and completely no longer have a future. I think: we should put an end to that with that generation. They have had their time.”

Derksen mainly refers to Louis van Gaal and Henk ten Cate, who are frequently mentioned since De Boer’s resignation. “I think Louis is a disgusting man, but a good coach,” Derksen continues. “Then you get those theatrical proposals again, I’ve seen that once. Henk has the look of an actor from a B-movie from Chicago. Henk has a bit of a semi-criminal look when he looks angry. Henk is not friendly figurehead for the KNVB and the the Dutch squad. But he does have something in him. Where Henk is a trainer, Henk is the boss. And if these millionaires, who are over the horse, want a boss, you may have to put an authoritarian man for it. “

Giovanni van Bronckhorst dreams of national coaching the Dutch

Derksen has nothing good to say about Van Gaal. “It is a repeat offender”, the analyst refers to Van Gaal’s balcony scenes at Bayern Munich and AZ, among others. “Then I think: should we make this bastard coach again that we get these scenes again? I am a fan of the football man Van Gaal, because I almost always agree with the football decisions. He has an unbalanced team in Brazil. an optimal return. That was his best performance. But you can expect slightly different behavior from someone at that age.”
