“I already said that the Netherlands could have hit Spain better in the knockout phase,” writes Van der Vaart, adding a smiling emoji. “But all kidding aside: it was a terrible performance by the Dutch team yesterday. It was a completely deserved victory for the Czechs.” Van der Vaart recently spoke very negatively about the Spanish team, which brought the former midfielder to the necessary criticism. After the duels with Sweden (0-0) and Poland (1-1) in the group stage, he was scathing about the formation of national coach Luis Enrique.
