Ajax will indeed play next season with the old club logo on the chest, as appears from the leaked new home shirt of the team from Amsterdam, which is revealed on Twitter by Jimmy Driessen. Rumors of the return to the old decal have been going on for months, but never before was an image of the shirt available.

The new Ajax uniform contains a much narrower red track than has been customary in recent years. The jersey also has a strikingly large white round neckline. This makes the shirt very similar to the uniform from the seventies, in which Johan Cruijff, among others, shone and the first European Cup 1 titles were won by Ajax. This year it is exactly fifty years ago that the Amsterdammers first won the cup with big ears in 1971.

The old club logo can be seen on the possibly new Ajax shirt, which was taken into use by the Amsterdam team in 1928. From the 1991/92 season Ajax said goodbye to that logo: since then the capitals have been playing with the current logo on the shirt. For years there has been a sentiment among supporters of the club to want to return to the previous logo, which would be nicer.

Johan Cruijff fought a duel with Aad Mansveld of FC Den Haag in the 1971/72 season.
