Sparta Rotterdam has reached an agreement with Henk Fraser about a new contract, the Eredivisionist reports through the official channels. The head coach had a contract until mid-2022, which will be broken up until mid-2024. With this, the Rotterdammers reward Fraser for three excellent first seasons at Het Kasteel.

“First and foremost, of course, we can only be satisfied with the performance of the last three years,” says technical director Henk van Stee. “Actually, we performed above expectations. With a promotion in 2019, an eleventh place in 2020 and an eighth place last season with even participation in the play-offs for European football, we couldn’t get more.”

Despite the excellent performances under Fraser, Sparta remains realistic. “We know that we have financial constraints at Sparta, not a player budget comparable to clubs that normally should have finished above us,” says Van Stee. “But that doesn’t stop us from being creative with each other and growing step by step into a stable Eredivisie club. Because, let’s be clear, enforcement is the first objective next season and we see everything we achieve as a goal. bonus.”

Fraser, who was fired from Vitesse in 2018 and then went to Sparta, explains why he has extended his contract. “In the first place I really enjoy it at Sparta,” said the coach. “I work with good and pleasant people around me, we are working behind the scenes to further strengthen the selection for the coming season and even though we have only been preparing for a few days, I can’t wait to race again in August to coach on a full Castle.”
