Tom Boere is going for a second chance in the Eredivisie. The 28-year-old center striker is about to sign a contract with the newly promoted SC Cambuur, reports Football International. Boere comes transfer-free from the German third divisionist SV Meppen, where he was unable to convince in the past six months.

Boere has been roaming around in the 3. Liga for the past two years, after he transferred free of charge from FC Twente to KFC Uerdingen in 2019. At that club, Boere recorded creditable figures with 9 goals in 21 league matches, and after that season left for fellow competitor Türkgücü Munich. The attacker often sat on the bench there and in January he left for SV Meppen. At the latter club, Boere scored twice in nineteen appearances.

In the more distant past, in the 2016/17 season, Boere crowned himself the top scorer of the Eerste Divisie in the Netherlands with 32 goals for TOP Oss. FC Twente then offered him a chance in the Eredivisie, but at the highest level the striker only managed to score 5 times in 31 competition matches. Twente relegated to the Kitchen Champion Division, in which Boere then scored 16 times in 31 matches.

Now Boere gets a new chance to prove himself in the Eredivisie. At Cambuur he has to fill the void that Keuken Kampioen Divisional top scorer Robert Mühren leaves behind. The latter chose to return to FC Volendam. Cambuur recently also brought in Sam Hendriks from Go Ahead Eagles transfer-free for the striker position. The Frisians also attracted Marco Tol from FC Volendam.
