Ajax sends Dominik Kotarski to his home country Croatia for a year on a rental basis. The team from Amsterdam has reached agreement about this with HNK Gorica, reports the middle motor from the highest division. “I’m happy to be here at this ambitious club,” said the 21-year-old goalkeeper on his new club’s website. “I am delighted to have the opportunity to help Gorica achieve those goals.”

Kotarski was taken over from Dinamo Zagreb in the winter break of the 2017/18 season as a great talent for two million euros. That transfer fee is relatively high for a goalkeeper: Kotarski is still the eighth most expensive goalkeeper ever in the Eredivisie. He was attracted with a view to first mature at Jong Ajax in the Kitchen Champion Division and then make the jump to the first team, but it did not come to his debut in the main squad.

Several changes will be made to the goalkeeper area at Ajax this summer. Maarten Stekelenburg remains number one, while Remko Pasveer has been recruited as a stand-in. Jay Gorter initially appears as a goalkeeper for Jong Ajax, while the team from Amsterdam is busy selling Kjell Scherpen to Brighton & Hove Albion. André Onana is also expected to be sold. Last season there was already little room for Kotarski in Young Ajax, because Scherpen was usually preferred. Kotarski has a total of sixty duels for the Amsterdam promises.
