The cabinet wants to unlock the Netherlands a little faster than planned, the government reports NOS Monday. According to the new schedule, the relaxations planned for June 30 will already be implemented as of Saturday June 26. As a result, the eighth final of the European Championship between the numbers two of Group A and Group B, which will be played on the evening of June 26, could be played in a full Johan Cruijff ArenA.

The cabinet initially planned to take a large part of these steps only on 21 July. Due to the declining number of hospital admissions, plus the favorable progress of the vaccination campaign, that date has been brought forward to June 30. Now the relaxations are being brought forward for another four days, as corona infections and hospital admissions are falling faster than hoped.

Not only events are allowed again with a maximum number of spectators. The catering industry can also remain open until midnight and theaters, museums and cinemas can allow more visitors. The maximum number of people that someone can receive at home has been increased to eight people, more guests in restaurants (up to a hundred people) and sports competitions are allowed again.

The final decision has yet to be taken in the Council of Ministers. Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Minister Hugo de Jonge will probably give a press conference next Friday. If the relaxations continue, the eighth final between the runners-up of Group A and B can be played in a full stadium in Amsterdam. In Group A are Italy, Wales, Switzerland and Turkey; Belgium, Finland, Denmark and Russia play in Group B. If the the Dutch comes from Group C, it will play the eighth final in Budapest, London, Bucharest or Glasgow, depending on the final classification in its own and other groups.
