Ajax has announced the first practice match of the preparation for the new season. The team from Amsterdam will play a friendly against Anderlecht on Friday 16 July. Kick-off will be at 7.30 pm in Lotto Park – home to the number four of the past Jupiler Pro League season.

Both clubs announced via a one-two message on Twitter that they practiced against each other on July 16. “Who is up for a friendly match?” Ajax asks on the social medium. “BX against A’dam, what do you think?” Anderlecht reacts. Ajax answers: “Sounds good. July 16 at 7:30 p.m., perhaps?” Anderlecht then decides: “Done deal.” It is the third time in four years that Ajax and Anderlecht face each other in an exhibition game.

There is a good chance that Ajax will travel to Brussels with a faulty selection. A large part of the players will still have international obligations next month and will therefore probably only join later in the preparation for the new season. Ajax Showtime reports that Ajax will probably also practice during a training camp Austria against RB Leipzig later in the preparation. Ajax will play for the Johan Cruijff Scale against PSV at the beginning of August, after which the Eredivisie starts a week later with a home match against NEC.
