Kenzo Goudmijn will be wearing the Sparta Rotterdam shirt next season. The nineteen-year-old midfielder is rented by AZ to the Eredivisionist for a season. Goldmine gets the chance to fly hours at Het Kasteel, as he would have to settle for a supporting role in Alkmaar. His contract with AZ will continue until the summer of 2024.

Goudmijn will join the selection of trainer Henk Fraser next month in preparation for the new season. “Last season he played more than twenty matches in the Kitchen Champion Division for Young AZ and he also made his debut in the Eredivisie. At Sparta he will have to focus on a position in midfield ”, explains technical director Henk van Stee on the club website. “With his creativity and attacking attitude, he can be of added value to us and then he can take the next step in his development with playing minutes in the Eredivisie.”

“I have had the feeling for a while that I am ready for playing time in the Eredivisie. If that does not work at AZ, then at another club. That is why I am very happy with Sparta,” says Goudmijn, who confirms in an interview that there are more clubs were eager to attract him. “Sparta was there early and I had a good feeling about that myself. In the end it went very quickly.” Goldmine is the second reinforcement of Sparta for the new season. Van Stee already reinforced the selection of Fraser with Laurent Jans, a 28-year-old defender from Luxembourg who comes from Standard Liège.
