Manchester City is working on the arrival of Sergio Ramos, so it is known ESPN Monday to report. If the 35-year-old defender does indeed leave Real Madrid with a transfer-free status this summer, he can sign a two-year contract at the Etihad Stadium. According to Sport the losing Champions League finalist also targets Barcelona defender Sergi Roberto.

Ramos’ contract in Madrid expires on June 30 and both parties have still not reached an agreement on contract extension. Manager Josep Guardiola would like to attract an experienced defender for Manchester City and is therefore enthusiastic about the idea of picking his compatriot away from Real. Ramos reportedly has the option of exchanging Manchester City for New York City FC after two seasons, which is also part of the City Football Group. However, an initial offer has not yet been put on the table.

The talks between the board of Real and Ramos have been quite difficult for some time. The Spanish veteran is looking for a new two-year contract, while chairman Florentino Pérez does not want to go beyond one season for a player of his age. According to ASH the ten percent salary cut implemented at Real due to the corona crisis is none issue for Ramos, who, if he stays in Madrid, will face competition from Bayern Munich’s David Alaba.

In addition to Ramos, Guardiola is also thinking about bringing in Sergi Roberto. The right back has no intention of leaving Barcelona just like that. The Catalans, however, want to put the salary system in order and therefore do not rule out a premature departure of the fullback. Manchester City was already in the market last year for Sergio Roberto, who at the time preferred a longer stay in Barcelona over an adventure in the Premier League. He is in the Camp Nou until mid-2022. Incidentally, the defender made his debut under Guardiola in 2010 in the main force of last season’s number three in LaLiga.
