Ronald Koeman has survived the conversation with Barcelona chairman Joan Laporta. In the presence of Vice President Rafa Yuste, technical director Mateu Alemany and agent Rob Jansen, a conversation of about half an hour was held in the Camp Nou on Tuesday evening. No decision has been made about Koeman’s future. The parties will soon be talking to each other again.

The content of the first interview is not yet known. Afterwards, Koeman and Jansen were escorted to the exit by Yuste and said goodbye by shaking hands. Koeman is under contract with Barcelona for another year, but wants to know from the club management whether he still has full confidence. Koeman’s position became uncertain after Barcelona lost the league title. In the last weeks of the season, the Catalans missed the opportunity to take the lead.

Koeman said goodbye to the Barcelona squad on Sunday morning. The Spanish top club played the last game of the season at Eibar (0-1 win) on Saturday evening and an informal meeting was planned at the training complex the next morning. Koeman gave a speech to the squad at the Ciudad Deportiva Joan Gamper, wished the A-internationals success at their respective tournaments and hopes to see the first players again in the week of Monday, July 12, if he stays on as coach.

Across the NOS Koeman expressed his annoyance last weekend that there was still no clarity about his future, despite his contract running until mid-2022. “It has also bothered me that there is no clarity yet, because it must always be there,” said Koeman. “I have already indicated that in Spanish media. Doubt about the future is inherent to our profession and you accept that, but you should not give the media the opportunity to write about the trainer in this way. One day Xavi is the new trainer and the next day Xavi extends his contract in Qatar. ”
