Josep Guardiola reacted very emotionally to the upcoming departure of Sergio Agüero on Sunday evening. In front of the camera of Sky Sports the Manchester City manager burst into tears after the match against Everton (5-0). It was the farewell match of 32-year-old Agüero, who seems to be making the switch to Barcelona next summer.

“We love him so much and he is really special to us,” Guardiola began with a lump in his throat. “It is so beautiful. He has helped me a lot. We will never be able to replace him. That is simply impossible. Like Joe Hart and David Silva, he is one of the players who made this club. In twenty minutes he showed his qualities. ”

Agüero livened up his last Premier League match for Manchester City on Sunday with two goals. He was brought in as a substitute twenty minutes before time and took the 4-0 and 5-0. He boosted his total to 184 Premier League goals for City, overtaking Wayne Rooney (183 for Manchester United) as the player with the most goals in the Premier League for one club.

Also teammate Phil Foden, who himself scored the third goal the Citizens against Everton, superlatives failed to describe the person and footballer Aguëro. “It is very special. He comes on the field and scores twice: that means so much to the fans. I saw him play when I was a ball boy and he scored a lot of goals. Scoring is the hardest task in football and he’s been doing it I know how long. The players and the fans will miss him enormously. I look up to him very much and have obtained a lot of advice from him, ”said Foden.
