Sergio Agüero graced his last match for Manchester City on Sunday with two goals. The attacker, who leaves the Etihad Stadium after ten years, was brought in as a substitute in the last league game against Everton and scored the last two goals for the national champion: 5-0. He raised his total to 184 Premier League goals for Manchester City, overtaking Wayne Rooney (183 for Manchester United) as the player with the most goals scored in the Premier League for one club. Number two Manchester United closed the season with a 1-2 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, partly due to a penalty earned by Donny van de Beek.

Manchester City – Everton 5-0
Everton could rise to seventh place via a draw or a victory, which entitles them to participate in the play-off round of the Europa Conference League. The results in the other fields had to go well, but it soon became clear that Everton was already unable to complete the first part of the assignment. Within fifteen minutes Manchester City were leading 2-0. Kevin De Bruyne opened the score when he was found by Riyad Mahrez, took the ball and found the right corner from about 19 yards away. Gabriel Jesus doubled the margin when he entered the box after a quick counterattack, dodged Ben Godfrey and calmly shot in.

Ten minutes before the break Everton missed a golden opportunity to bring the tension back. The Toffees received a penalty kick after a tackle from Rúben Dias on Richarlison, but the subsequent deployment of Gylfi Sigurdsson was kept out of the corner by goalkeeper Ederson. A few minutes before the break, Mahrez curled the ball against the crossbar, keeping it 2-0 before half time. Seven minutes after the break, Phil Foden extended the score for Manchester City: the midfielder was reached in the penalty area after some nice preparatory work by Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling and was able to finish without much trouble. In the final phase, Agüero took over the game.

The Argentinian came in halfway through the second half and made it 4-0 six minutes after the substitution. Fernandinho captured the ball from Tom Davies and immediately served Agüero, who passed Mason Holgate and finished with an apparently simple punt. Another six minutes later, Agüero again cleverly scored. This time he received a retracting cross from Fernandinho and headed around the penalty area in the right corner. Not only did he break Rooney’s record, Agüero also completed the circle of his stay at Manchester City. Only once before has he scored twice for Manchester City as a substitute: in his debut match against Swansea City in August 2011.

Wolverhampton Wanderers – Manchester United 1-2
The Europa League finalist got off to a good start in Wolverhampton. Nineteen-year-old Anthony Elanga, who only had a basic place at Manchester United for the second time, headed home from close by Daniel James: 0-1. The home team straightened its back and gradually got into the game better in the first half. It resulted in the tying run in the 40th minute. Nélson Semedo was at the end of a beautiful attack and his bet eventually disappeared in the bottom left corner: 1-1. Shortly before half time, Van de Beek was brought down in the penalty area. Referee Romain Saïss decided after consultation with the VAR to give a penalty kick, from which Juan Mata scored.

Van de Beek was clearly eager to prove himself to manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The midfielder had a pass clarity of more than 93 percent against Wolves. Manchester United made a solid impression as a whole, three days before the Europa League final against Villarreal. Match winner Mata was replaced in the 82nd minute and it seems that the veteran has made his last minutes for Manchester United. Wolves kept fighting for a point to the end, but the close defense of the visitors was no longer brought into trouble. The Red Devils finish second in the Premier League and can crown the season with a European triumph on Wednesday.
