Despite the fact that De Graafschap did not succeed in securing promotion to the Eredivisie on Friday evening after a 1-1 draw against Young Ajax, the players’ bus was awaited with fireworks and singing by approximately two hundred supporters. Gelderland broadcaster reports, however, that several reporters have been attacked. A press photographer sustained an injury to his hand while trying to protect his equipment.

The fans had come to De Vijverberg to support the players. A 1-1 draw against Young Ajax was not enough to secure second place in the Kitchen Champion Division, so the decision will fall on the last day of play next Wednesday. De Graafschap will receive Helmond Sport and can see Go Ahead Eagles, Almere City or NAC Breda come alongside in the event of a misstep.

When the players’ bus arrived at the stadium, fireworks were set off and the supporters sang Super Farmers, Super Farmers!. Gelderland broadcaster reports that after that, several reporters were harassed by some supporters. A press photographer from Persbureau Heitink sustained injuries to his hand while trying to protect his equipment. He says he will report assault after the incident at De Vijverberg.
