Supporters of De Graafschap caused a two-kilometer traffic jam on the A18 towards Zevenaar on Friday afternoon. Fans of the clubs took to the motorway in a procession of tractors, causing delays for other traffic, Rijkswaterstaat reports on Twitter.
The tractors left the highway at Didam, which quickly resolved the traffic jam. The problems have now been resolved. The drivers of the tractors have not been fined for driving on the motorway, Rijkswaterstaat writes. “According to the law it is certainly not allowed,” said a spokesman on Twitter. “However, the police have decided to accompany the procession and to tolerate this. I do not dare to tell you what the motives are behind this.
