SC Heerenveen has definitely strengthened itself with Milan van Ewijk, so assures us The Telegraph Tuesday afternoon. The fullback of ADO Den Haag has been followed for some time by the Frisian club and, when all the last details have been completed, signs a four-year contract. Heerenveen pays ADO a transfer fee of half a million euros. In addition, the Hague club managed to negotiate a resale percentage in the contract negotiations.
Van Ewijk’s transfer gained momentum because ADO is facing acute financial problems. The finalist of the Eredivisie has to make every effort to make ends meet and was thus quickly benefited from a financial injection. In addition to the transfer amount of half a million euros, ADO may benefit from a possible follow-up transfer in the future, as the club has included a resale percentage in the contract. Van Ewijk was brought to ADO in the summer of 2019 and moved to SC Cambuur on a rental basis six months later.
In an extensive interview with Football zone Van Ewijk recently said that he saw the sub-top of the Eredivisie as an example of ‘a great stepping stone’ to further develop himself. “The Netherlands is a familiar environment for me. That is why I would prefer to learn to live here on my own instead of abroad where I don’t know anyone at all. I want to grow step by step as a player and as a person. Compared to last year, I have become much more mature in my game. Especially on a defensive level, but I still have a lot to learn ”, he explained.
