A week after winning the championship in the Kitchen Champion Division, SC Cambuur played in front of 2,000 spectators against number two De Graafschap. The Super Farmers were able to take a big step towards promotion to the Eredivisie when they won, but the visitors did not get further than a 1-1 draw. Number three Almere City FC did win and therefore came closer. The gap, with two more duels ahead, is now four points. Number four Go Ahead Eagles, seven points behind De Graafschap, will only play against Helmond Sport on Sunday.

SC Cambuur – De Graafschap 1-1
The visitors from Doetinchem were somewhat lucky with the opening goal after more than half an hour of play. From a corner Michael Breij unluckily worked the ball behind his own goalkeeper Sonny Stevens: 0-1. A big setback for Cambuur, after a fairly promising opening phase. The team of trainer Henk de Jong faced a backlog halfway through the encounter in Leeuwarden. The home team showed resilience after half time and after an hour of play the scoreboard showed 1-1. After a flashy attack, it was Giovanni Korte who scored the equalizer with a nice shot. De Graafschap was still very close to the winning goal via Daryl van Mieghem and Elmo Lieftink, but the number two lacked a bit of luck against Cambuur. The promotion candidate will play at home against Young Ajax on 7 May.

FC Eindhoven – FC Den Bosch 1-0
The Brabant meeting did not result in a winner until late on Friday evening. The first half in particular was quite exciting with opportunities for both goals. Joey Sleegers thought he would score after twenty minutes, but the alert goalkeeper Wouter van der Steen was there in time. In the remainder of the first half, both clubs continued to hunt for the opening goal, which ultimately did not come. Jizz Hornkamp, the hero of Den Bosch in the 7-0 victory over Roda JC Kerkrade, could not make the difference for his team after the break. Because FC EIndhoven could no longer really make a fist from an offensive point of view, the low flyers in the Kitchen Champion Division seemed to leave the field without having scored. Sleegers, however, gave Eindhoven the three points with a placed shot.

Excelsior – FC Dordrecht 3-0
in the Rotterdam formation, the leading role was once again reserved for Elías Már Ómarsson. The top scorer from Iceland already signed for Excelsior’s first goal in the opening minute, to the delight of the 625 spectators. Within ten minutes all tension seemed to have disappeared in Rotterdam. After a smooth-running combination, it was the turn of Reuven Niemeijer, who curled the ball nicely into the corner: 2-0. Dordrecht started dramatically and never came back into the game. Five minutes after the break, Excelsior finally ended the game. Ómarsson was again the goldcrest after good preparatory work by Joël Zwarts.

Almere City FC – Ajax 1-0
From the first whistle, it was the home team that explicitly went in search of the opening goal. Nevertheless, Almere City did not score in the first company, and that was mainly due to the lack of fortune and sharpness at striker Thomas Verheydt. In the fourth minute, the club top scorer came just too late to slide in a cross from Elias Sörensen; halfway through the first half, he headed straight from a promising position into the hands of goalkeeper Daan Reiziger. For more than seven minutes, the bar was in the way of a goal by Verheydt.

The most remarkable moment of the first half occurred five minutes before half-time. Referee Luca Cantineau awarded Young Ajax a penalty after a foul by Steve Tunga on Terrence Douglas. Brian Brobbey claimed a penalty kick, but he literally shot the ball out of the Yanmar Stadium. Just before half time, Brobbey could have made up for his mistake when he came face to face with Michael Woud, but the closing post kept the Ajax player from scoring. Even after the break, Almere City was the parent, who eventually found the opening goal fifteen minutes before the end. It was John Yeboah who was given space to shoot and placed the ball in the intersection in an excellent manner: 1-0.

Telstar – Young PSV 2-2
The PSV team saved a point in injury time against Telstar, which took the lead after 27 minutes via Glynor Plet. The attacker was there like the chickens to shoot in a rebound. Only six minutes later, the score was again tied in Velsen-Zuid, due to a goal by Nigel Thomas. Young PSV then went on the hunt for the lead, but the team from Eindhoven did not succeed in that mission. It was precisely Telstar that restored the lead in the 63rd minute by a header from veteran Frank Korpershoek. The home team tried to decide the game in the final phase, but got the lid on the nose in the added time. Emmanuel Matuta managed to score the equalizer. The final whistle sounded immediately afterwards.
