Ronald Koeman has been suspended for two games, it reports RAC1. The Barcelona coach was sent to the stands on Thursday evening with a red card in the lost league match against Granada (1-2). He is not welcome in the games against Valencia (Sunday, away) and Atlético Madrid (next Saturday, at home), so assistant Alfred Schreuder will do the honors.

The referee report by Pablo González Fuertes revealed on Thursday that Koeman received a red card in the second half of the game on Thursday evening. The Dutchman shouted in the 66th minute, ‘despite some warnings’, vaya personaje towards the fourth man, so it could be read. That roughly translates as ‘You are quite special’, ‘You are one of them’ or ‘What a character’. A direct red card normally means that a trainer has to let go of the next two games of the same competition and that is now the case.

Immediately afterwards, Koeman assured that he had not used swear words and said he had not offended anyone. However, the Spanish Referees Committee determined that calling vaya personaje has been a valid reason to send Koeman to the stands. “Disrespect is when you insult someone and that has not happened”, Koeman emphasized earlier in conversation with Spanish media. “We discussed a few moments during the match and that was done in a respectful way.”

“I would like to know which words I used then. In any case, no ugly words, “said Koeman, who called Schreuder after his red card. He already said he regretted a possible suspension in the coming duels.” I don’t know if that will affect the team. It does affect me. If I used ugly words, then it is my responsibility, but it wasn’t. We’ll have to wait and see. I can’t say more about it. “
