RB Leipzig turned the home game against VfB Stuttgart into a victory on Sunday afternoon. The number two in the Bundesliga played a large part of the game with one more man and won 2-0. With that, Leipzig postponed Bayern’s title party until at least May 8. Justin Kluivert came in for the home team fifteen minutes before the end. It was a memorable day for his 17-year-old compatriot Mohamed Sankoh, who simultaneously came on the line and made his debut in the first team of Stuttgart.

Kluivert did not get a basic place at Leipzig. At Stuttgart, Sankoh made his debut in the match selection. The attacker trained by Sparta Rotterdam, who exchanged Stoke City for Stuttgart in the summer of last year, started on the bench, just like Kluivert. Stuttgart already started the game as an underdog and had to continue with ten men after twelve minutes. In an effort to get to the ball earlier, Naouirou Ahamada planted his studs on Amadou Haidara’s shin, which left him a red card.

In the second half, Leipzig managed to take advantage of the numerical predominance. After just eighteen seconds, Haidara made it 1-0 with a tight header from a cross by Dani Olmo. Then goalkeeper Gregor Kobel of Stuttgart made a nice double save on a shot by Angeliño and the rebound by Olmo, but halfway through the second half Emil Forsberg made it 2-0 from a penalty kick. The Swede was knocked down by Konstantinos Mavropanos two minutes after his raid and shot with control.

With three matches to go, the gap between Leipzig and Bayern is seven points. On Saturday, May 8, Leipzig will visit Borussia Dortmund at 3.30 pm. In any case, Julian Nagelsmann’s team should not lose to retain a theoretical chance for the national title. Bayern will play at home against Borussia Mönchengladbach later the same day. The leader has enough of a point if Leipzig draws against Dortmund, but must win if Leipzig also manages to win.
