FC Utrecht has received its first reinforcement for next season. Anastasios Douvikas will come over from Volos NFC after this season and has signed a contract until the summer of 2025. The 21-year-old striker is a Greek international and was named Best Young Player of the Greek top league in the 2017/18 season. According to Football International Olympiacos, AEK Athens and Anderlecht were also interested, but Douvikas consciously chose the Eredivisie.

Douvikas made his debut at the highest level in Greece in the 2017/18 season as a striker for Asteras Tripolis. In the summer of last year, he made the switch to Volos NFC, where he scored 10 goals in 26 league games. “Anastasios has a good mentality. He impresses with his zest for work and the power and energy he puts into his game ”, technical director Jordy Zuidam said on the FC Utrecht club website.

“He is a player with a lot of potential and is very goal-oriented in his actions”, Zuidam continues. “The fact that he has already made a definitive breakthrough in Greece at the age of 21 and made his debut for the Greek national team, underlines that. We are pleased that he has made a very focused choice for FC Utrecht as the next step in his career and we see a bright future with him. ”

“After hearing about FC Utrecht’s interest, I deepened my interest in the club. I am a hard worker and always give the maximum and I think I fit in perfectly with FC Utrecht in that respect ”, says the new Utrecht striker from Greece. “I had the luxury that several clubs showed interest in me, but I had the right feeling at FC Utrecht. In my opinion, this is the perfect next step in my career. “
