Ajax is champion when it wins the home games against FC Utrecht (Thursday evening) and AZ (Sunday). Femke Halsema, mayor of Amsterdam, is already preparing for possible meetings of supporters to celebrate the championship. In the city council meeting on Thursday, Halsema will let you know how the authorities will proceed on Sunday, should Ajax indeed win the national title.

Reinier van Dantzig, chairman of D66, predicts a ‘seriously problematic week’ during the municipal council meeting. Two days after the eventual championship match of Ajax, King’s Day follows. “We could already see yesterday (Wednesday, ed.) In the Vondelpark that not everyone adheres to the call to abide by the rules”, Van Dantzig is quoted by, among others. AT5. “I wouldn’t want to jinx Ajax, because that is a great risk that you run, but it may be that we are entering a happy week”, Halsema remains hopeful despite everything.

Halsema is clear about a possible title party for Ajax and King’s Day. “In particular, excesses are enforced. That means that people are warned if they violate the rules and then again. If it is very persistent or if there are very large groups, in extreme cases you will be fined or a burden will be imposed. It has never been the aim to hand out as many fines as possible. Enforcement is aimed at tempting and, if necessary, forcing people to comply with the covid rules, “said the mayor, who wants brutal police action appearance.

Halsema recently voiced the opposite AT5 all her worries about spontaneous championship parties at a championship of Ajax. “We foresee control problems. We hope that Ajax will become champion soon and I am of course worried about champion parties that could spontaneously break out in the street.” In the past, there has been more than once strong criticism from the Ajax corner about the way Halsema deals with the supporters. In 2019 around the Champions League duel with Juventus, the police acted harshly during an atmospheric action by the Ajax fans. Water cannons were then used and dozens of supporters and officers were injured. Many attendees thought the police action was disproportionate.
