Fenerbahçe remains in the wake of leader Besiktas in the Süper Lig. The number two in the league recorded a 1-2 victory on Sunday against Istanbul Basaksehir, the reigning champion who is currently eighteenth and would be virtually relegated. One of the most notable players was goalkeeper Harun Tekin, who was under the bar for the first time this season after regular goalkeeper Altay Bayindir has an injury to his wrist and undergone surgery. Tekin returned a penalty in the final phase. Fenerbahçe is two points behind Besiktas, which still has a duel credit.

Eleven minutes after the break, Tufan darted past the penalty area and served Dimitrios Pelkas, who scored the 1-2 with a firing shot into the right corner. Subsequently, Basaksehir had to continue with ten men, because Mahmut Tekdemir got his second yellow card. The defender wanted to take a free kick after a handball from Enner Valencia, but Valencia then kept the ball under his foot and dolde Tekdemir.
