The match between Ajax and AZ on Sunday, April 25 starts at 2.30 p.m. instead of 8 p.m., the Alkmaarders announce via the official channels. The Alkmaarders do not communicate why the game has been brought forward, but that probably has to do with the fact that 7500 spectators are welcome and that Ajax can become champion that day.

When Ajax wins the catch-up match against FC Utrecht in their own stadium next Thursday, the team from Amsterdam can secure the national title against AZ four days later. The fact that Ajax can become champions against the Alkmaarders seems to have been a reason for the KNVB to let the match play a few hours earlier. In addition, supporters may be present at the possible Ajax championship match.

During the round of play scheduled for the last weekend of April, supporters are again welcome in the Eredivisie stadiums. For example, Ajax may allow 7500 spectators in the Johan Cruijff ArenA for the duel with AZ. If the game had been completed at 8 p.m., these supporters could not have been home before the curfew at 10 p.m. In the same round of play, PSV also plays at 8 p.m. on Saturday evening against FC Groningen. The people of Eindhoven are also investigating the possibilities of bringing the game forward.
