PEC Zwolle has reached an agreement with the players, technical staff and office staff about a salary offer, the club reports on its website. The current number thirteen of the Eredivisie has to deal with significant turnover losses, mainly because the public is still not welcome at matches. Zwolle reports that ‘some financial restrictions are being implemented’ as a result of the agreement. It is the second time that the club has found its staff willing to give up. That already happened in May last year.

Bram van Polen says in a response that it did not take very long to reach the agreement. “It’s a season like never before”, the 35-year-old captain realizes. “The lack of our supporters and sponsors is great and we as a group of players realize all too well that these are still uncertain times for many. as if nothing is wrong. That is why we, as a group of players, decided unanimously and without extensive consultation to sign the social agreement. “

Chairman Adriaan Visser speaks of a ‘nice gesture’. “For the second year in a row, the employees lend the club a big helping hand to get out of this dire situation as well as possible. Thanks to this social agreement, we are saving a substantial amount at PEC Zwolle.” It was recently announced that supporters will be allowed into the stadiums again during the thirtieth round of play in the Eredivisie. In addition, on April 25, when Ajax takes on AZ, 7500 supporters will be welcome in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. At Feyenoord against Vitesse on the same day, 6500 spectators are welcome in De Kuip.

Zwolle is certainly not the only club in the Eredivisie that relies on its workforce. Earlier, FC Groningen, Heracles Almelo and PSV, among others, reached an agreement about the surrender of salary. The second wage offering that Feyenoord presented to the group of players did not go down well. Partly due to the arrival of Lucas Pratto, the selection waived a second allowance. It was remarkable that Francesco Antonucci, who is being let by Feyenoord to FC Volendam this season, was the only one who agreed to the wage sacrifice demanded by the management.
