Feyenoord is satisfied with the progress of the compensation campaign for season ticket holders, the club writes in an update on Monday afternoon. Last month, Feyenoord called on season ticket holders to refrain as much as possible from the possibility of requesting a refund for their current season ticket, now that spectators cannot go to matches. Feyenoord hoped to limit the financial damage of the corona crisis in this way.

Most of the season ticket holders can get 85 percent of their money back, because hardly any matches have been played with an audience this season. Mark Koevermans, general manager of Feyenoord, said in a video last week that the club is in bad shape and called on the supporters to refrain from a compensation if possible. In the meantime, Feyenoord does not expect to have to pay back at least half of the total amount of fifteen million euros to the supporters.

This estimate is based on the choices that supporters have made so far whether or not to (completely) waive the compensation for their season ticket. Regular season ticket holders have been able to inform the club of their choice for three weeks and indicate whether they want compensation for the amount they have paid. More than half of them have already done so, which at this stage has already resulted in a large amount that Feyenoord does not have to pay out.

Feyenoord emphasizes in the statement that it is ‘enormously grateful’ for the support of supporters who completely or partly forego the compensation. Season ticket holders have at least until Thursday 20 May to make their choice. Supporters who completely forego compensation will receive the ‘Full Support Away Shirt 2021/22’ as a thank you, a unique Feyenoord shirt that was worn by the players for the first time on Sunday against FC Utrecht (1-2 victory). In any case, the shirt is also given as a gift to supporters who indicated that they would not receive compensation prior to the season when purchasing their season ticket.
