Marco van Ginkel will play at PSV on a rental basis for the fourth time this season. Chelsea is expected to exercise the option in his expiring contract, leaving him stuck at Stamford Bridge for an additional year. Van Ginkel realizes that he is not entitled to playing minutes in the team of manager Thomas Tuchel, so that a definitive transfer to Eindhoven seems to be possible for the 28-year-old midfielder.

Van Ginkel made the switch from Vitesse to Chelsea in the summer of 2013 for almost ten million euros. Partly due to injuries, he never came out of the paint there. In the Premier League, he got no further than two raids. The Blues leased him to AC Milan, Stoke City and now for the fourth time to PSV. With an expiring contract, a departure from London seems imminent. That will be done for a transfer fee, as Van Ginkel expects Chelsea to include the option in his contract.

“Of course there is that option to earn some money from me after all this time, the club has invested a lot in me”, the eight-time Oranje-international says. The Telegraph. “I don’t think I will have a chance in the first team there now,” he says with a laugh. “Whether they will grant me a transfer to PSV? That certainly could, but it also depends on what PSV wants with me. I’ve always had a good time here. I am at my place in the Netherlands and in Eindhoven, close to my family, and I am certainly not finished yet. ”

Where Van Ginkel’s future seems to lie at PSV, the newspaper expects various players to leave the selection of trainer Roger Schmidt. Cited names include Timo Baumgartl, Mohamed Ihattaren and Adrian Fein. The latter plays on a rental basis in Eindhoven. PSV can take him over from Bayern Munich for six million euros, but that option certainly does not seem to be lifted.
