Roger Schmidt has announced PSV’s line-up for Sunday afternoon’s away game against VVV-Venlo. There is no change at all for the Eindhoven team compared to the home game against Heracles Almelo (3-0) a week ago. Schmidt opts for a 4-2-2-2 system and in midfield a starting place has again been made for Olivier Boscagli. The meeting between VVV and PSV starts at 2.30 p.m.

Yvon Mvogo defends PSV’s goal as expected. The central defense duo consists of Jordan Teze and Nick Viergever, while the back positions are taken by Denzel Dumfries and Philipp Max. Shortly before the defense, Pablo Rosario and Boscagli have to take care of the balance at PSV. Schmidt therefore keeps Ibrahim Sangaré on the bench again. The attacking impulses in the middle line must come from Mario Götze and Cody Gakpo. The vanguard is also formed in Venlo by Donyell Malen and Eran Zahavi. In addition to Sangaré, Mohamed Ihattaren is also on the bench again.

With a win at VVV, PSV takes over the coveted second place from AZ, which won 2-0 against Sparta Rotterdam on Saturday evening. The goal difference of Schmidt’s formation is slightly better than the competitor from Alkmaar: +32 to +28. PSV won in December with large numbers from VVV in the Philips Stadium: 4-1. The goals were then scored by Max, Boscagli, Gakpo and Adrian Fein. Jafar Arias did something back for the Limburg formation at the time.

VVV-Venlo setup:

PSV line-up: Mvogo; Dumfries Teze Viergever Max; Rosario Boscagli; Götze Gakpo; Zahavi Malen
